


What is required for the “Range Proficiency” portion of the course.
After completing this online course, you will need to complete a Range Proficiency session with a certified instructor.
Texas LTC Shooting Proficiency Demonstration Requirements:
- At least 1-hour of Range Instruction Training with a certified instructor.
- Score of 175/200 (70%) required to pass Proficiency Examination.
- 50 rounds total, fired at a B-27 target (24”x45”), from the ready position.
- 3 Yard Line – 20 Rounds
- 7 Yard Line – 20 Rounds
- 15 Yard Line – 10 Rounds
- Optical enhancers are not allowed. Only live ammunition may be used during training and qualification. Target marking cartridges are not permitted.

Is this course all that is required to obtain my Texas LTC?
No, Texas requires both classroom and range training sessions to obtain a Texas LTC. This course satisfies the classroom training requirement, but you will still need to complete a 1-2 hour “Range Proficiency” portion of the course. Instructions for how to complete the range proficiency requirement are included in this course
How do I complete my mandatory range instruction training after completing the online course?
Contact us after you completed the online portion to schedule the range test. This is an additional $50, not including the range fee.
You will need to bring:
- 50 rounds of ammunition (available to purchase with us)
- Your choice of handgun
- The LTC 101 certificate
